Quorn and the River Soar

This walk begins in the car park at the rear of the White Horse Pub in Quorn.

Use the car park next to Stafford Orchard, Station Road, in Quorn. Toilets adjacent, all other facilities close by.

  1. Go out of the far left, at the back of the car park and take the wide path through Stafford Orchard, bearing right on the path through the metal archway and out on to the road. Turn right, over the bridge to the Tยญjunction.

2. Take Leicester Road to the left, towards Mountsorrel, for a third of a mile to the signpost on the left. Go through the kissing gate and bear slight right over a stile/footbridge. Keep direction over a series of boundaries marked by yellow top marker posts and go under the A6 close to the river.

3. Continue ahead through the next gate and bear left with the fence to the right, over a footbridge and take the concrete path right, across the bridge over the Grand Union Canal.

4. Bear left, up Mill Lane to the recreation ground; bear left down the driveway and right at the signpost, along the path with the hedge to the left. The path bears right, up to Bridge Road in Barrowยญ-uponยญ-Soar. Turn left, along the roadside path and over the bridge across the River Soar, to the signpost on the left.

5. Turn left through the gate on the left, go down the steps and take the tarmac path over the grass, passing right of the pylon. Keep ahead over the footbridge across the A6.

6. Go down the ramp and keep straight on between houses into Quorn, to the road. Take the path right/ahead between walls; continue through Catherine Close and the hedged path at the right hand end. Keep ahead past the โ€˜Apple Treeโ€™ pub, to the town centre and the car park on the left.
