The bridge near Proctors Park from barrow into Quorn. A lovely view so often missed by the vehicles that wait for the lights to change.

Shepshed 7 2016 By Alan Harris
The annual Shepshed 7 race around the grounds of the De Lisle estate. They are just passing the gatehouse in the photo. It was taken in 2016, the 2017 race is this Sunday.

“Early Morning Run” This view from Old John at dawn looks across east as the the sun rises over Bradgate Park. The runner adds to the peace and quite that the park gives to the atmosphere at first light in the autumn sunshine.

Old John – iconic location in the area that even as just a silhouette against the sunset it is immediately recognisable

The deer of Bradgate Park are used to us humans sharing their space but if you want them to come closer you need to learn to wait and enjoy relaxing in stillness.

Linkfield Road in Mountsorrel – The most important part of any community is the people, and the villages in Soar Valley are no different. This photograph is of a typical residential street in early evening. Within this image, I tried to capture the time of day when families are enjoying each other’s company at home; children and parents back from school and work. Another element I tried to show in this photograph is the struggle often seen in villages between old and new, as a narrow street must cope with development including new housing and extra vehicles.
King Edward II by Alan Harris
The steam locomotive King Edward II on the Great Central Railway at Loughborough. It was taken in January 2013 when the locomotive was visiting the railway not long after the discovery of the body of King Richard III under the car park in Leicester. The Great Central Railway is a major attraction in the Soar Valley area. This photo captures that heritage as well as paying homage to the discovery of the body of King Richard with the presence of two Kings in Leicestershire.
Kimberly Halford2
Old John around Christmas time. The photo shows the tower in beautiful light from with unusual foreground colours.

Bradgate Stag by Alan Harris
A red deer stag in Bradgate Park during the rut. His fancy head gear is to attract the females. He has been fighting the other males though as can be seen by the cuts on his side. Bradgate Park is a major attraction in Leicestershire and visitors come from far and wide to observe the deer, especially during the rutting season.
