In partnership with HS Foot Care Services
This time of year many people suffer from the cold so wrap up with scarves, vests, thick jackets etc., but what about feet?

Feet remaining cold when in warmer, indoor temperatures or taking an age to thaw out, may indicate an underlying health problem such as underactive thyroid, diabetes or Raynaud’s.
If diabetic, have your diabetic foot check regularly. Some medicaโons can restrict blood flow making the
extremities colder. Rushing to warm feet indoors can cause problems if exposing feet to extreme heat too quickly. It can cause basal dilation of smaller blood vessels leading to bruising or chilblains.
Socks and footwear need consideration
Rather than a thick pair of socks, use thinner layers, trapping insulating air between them. Check shoes for fit โ often, seemingly comfortable shoes are too small and lead to cramping toes, corns, blisters or even ulcers. Lumps and bumps in shoes mean they are too small! Check the soles for splits – letting water in.
Self Help: Natural products such as LArginine tablets or creams containing Arnica help improve circulaโon thereby improving warming of hands and feet. Care of your feet at this time of year can save a huge
amount of pain!
