As One Door Closes…and Winter Turns into Spring The turning of the seasons always brings change, and this year is no different.
As winter gives way to the fresh possibilities of spring, we find ourselves reflecting on the shifts within our own little magazine world.
One of the biggest dilemmas we’ve faced in recent months is something we know many small businesses will relate to—pricing
For the first time in three years, we’ve had to take the difficult decision to adjust our rates.
It’s not something we did lightly, and we agonised over it for months. The last time we made a change, we lost a few advertisers—a painful but illuminating experience. You soon find out who your friends are.
Thankfully, this time, all but one understood, (they shall remain nameless) Let’s just say they run on fixed and rigid rails, exactly four feet eight and a half inches apart.
But as one door closes, so many more open. We’re delighted to have gained five fantastic new advertisers, and we’re thrilled to welcome The Mount Saint Bernard Abbey Brewery as the new sponsor of our What’s On pages. Even better, we’ve rekindled relationships with four previous advertisers who have returned to our pages this year. The support and belief in what we do means everything.
Beyond the numbers, we’ve also been fortunate to deepen relationships with long-term supporters. Writing new features for Abbeyfield Dementia Care Home, Broadleaf Tree Care, and Right at Home Loughborough has been a joy—proof that great partnerships grow into friendships overtime. These collaborations have allowed us to share important stories and highlight the work of incredible people who make a difference in our community.
This month, we’re excited to introduce some fresh faces: Gymophobics, Lee Pearson Decorator, Number 1 PHD Plumbing, Outwood’s Property Services and Jacquiline Avery Tutoring Services. Each of these businesses brings something unique to our community, and we’re honoured to be a platform for their growth and success. Reflecting on the past few years,it’s clear that resilience and adaptation are key.
The magazine has weathered changes, both big and small, but it is the continued support from our advertisers, contributors, and readers that keeps us moving forward. We remain committed to bringing you the latest local news, insightful features, and community-driven stories that matter.
As winter fades and spring unfurls, we embrace the new opportunities that come our way.
The magazine, like the seasons, keeps evolving, and with your unwavering support, we look forward to another year of celebrating the people, places, and businesses that make the Soar Valley so special.
So, here’s to fresh beginnings, brighter days, and doors opening where we least expect them. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
We couldn’t do it without you.
Steve
